Commercial Barrier Matting Fitters for Businesses

Every commercial entrance needs barrier matting that works. It stops dirt and moisture at the door and sits flush with the floor so it is never a trip hazard.

Commercial Barrier Matting Supply and Fit

The entranceway to a commercial building takes more footfall than anywhere else on the site. Dirt, grit, and moisture get walked in with every person who comes through the door and they damage your main flooring faster than almost anything else. The right barrier matting stops that at the source. We supply and fit commercial barrier matting for offices, schools, hospitals, and commercial buildings of all kinds, cutting the mat well to the correct depth and using self-levelling smoothing compounds to make sure the mat sits perfectly flush with the adjacent floor. All work is done by our own in-house team.

Our Types of Barrier Matting

Recessed Entrance Matting

The most common barrier matting installation. The mat is fitted into a recessed mat well in the floor so it sits completely flush with the adjacent surface. We cut the well to the correct depth and apply self-levelling smoothing compounds before the mat goes in, so there is no lip, no trip hazard, and no movement under foot.

Surface-Laid Entrance Matting

Where there is no existing mat well, surface-laid matting is the practical solution. It sits on top of the floor with a bevelled edge to eliminate the trip hazard at the transition. We advise on the right product and fixing method for the level of footfall and the type of surface it is going down onto.

Ribbed Barrier Matting

Heavy-duty ribbed matting is designed for high-footfall commercial and industrial entrances where serious scraping action is needed. It removes dirt and grit from boots and shoes before they reach your main flooring, reducing wear and cutting down on cleaning time.

Where We Fit Commercial Barrier Matting

Offices

Commercial barrier matting is a practical requirement for any office building where people are walking in from outside with mud, dirt, and moisture on their shoes. A properly fitted entrance mat protects the main floor covering from concentrated wear at the entrance and reduces cleaning time across the whole building. We cut the mat well to the correct depth and fit it flush to eliminate any trip hazard at the transition.

Schools and Education

School entrances take a huge volume of foot traffic every day, with pupils bringing in mud and moisture that can cause the main floor covering to deteriorate quickly if not intercepted at the door. Barrier matting is a cost-effective way to extend the life of the flooring throughout the building and keep entranceways safer in wet weather. We fit around school timetables and work out of hours where needed.

Healthcare and Hospitals

Hospital entrances need barrier matting that stops dirt and moisture being tracked into clinical areas where hygiene is non-negotiable. The mat well preparation has to be right to ensure the matting sits flush with the adjacent floor and does not create a trip hazard for patients, visitors, or staff. We carry out entrance matting installations in live healthcare environments with minimum disruption to the facility.

Retail

Retail entrances see some of the heaviest foot traffic of any commercial building, and barrier matting at the door is one of the most effective ways to protect the main floor covering from premature wear. The right mat also keeps the entrance safer in wet weather by reducing the moisture being walked further into the store. We advise on the right product for the level of footfall before anything is ordered.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does commercial barrier matting cost?

Pricing depends on the size of the entranceway, the product selected, and the preparation needed to the mat well. Use our Quick Quote Calculator for a rough estimate, or get in touch and we will arrange a free site survey.

Why does barrier matting need to sit flush with the floor?

An entrance mat that sits proud of the adjacent floor is a trip hazard. One that sits too low will roll at the edges and eventually come loose. Preparing the mat well to the correct depth and finishing the sub-floor properly is what gets the result right, and it is something we always do properly.

Can you fit barrier matting into an existing mat well?

Yes. We uplift the old matting, prepare or re-level the sub-floor within the recess using self-levelling smoothing compounds, and fit the new barrier matting so it sits flush with the adjacent floor. The mat well preparation is part of every installation, not an optional extra.

Do you travel nationwide for barrier matting installations?

We cover a 30-mile radius around Worcester for smaller projects and travel nationwide for larger contracts. Get in touch and we will be straight with you about whether the job works geographically.

Do you subcontract your barrier matting installations?

No, never. Every installation is carried out by our own in-house team. No outside fitters, and one team responsible for the preparation and the finish from start to end.

Live Environment Refit: Herons Park Nursing Home

Commercial refits in sensitive, live environments like care homes demand more than just standard floor fitting. They require respect, cleanliness, and specialist product knowledge. For Herons House in Kidderminster, the client needed to upgrade a resident's room and ensuite to improve both the aesthetics and the safety of the space, without causing any disruption to the people living there. We uplifted the old materials and installed Scala impervious-backed commercial carpet to prevent moisture seeping through to the sub-floor, paired with Altro Aquarius safety flooring in the ensuite, a specialist product engineered specifically for barefoot use in wet rooms. The finished space was tidier, more practical, harder wearing, and delivered with complete respect for the care home environment.
